The paper tone underneath is closer to unbleached linen than to white. That warmth is what lets a piece with this much blue in it sit comfortably in a Scandinavian-leaning room.

Wind has no shape of its own, so the drawing gives it one — stacked parallel lines bending around each other. It is the oldest solution in Japanese printmaking and still the most convincing.

Walking in, the eye follows a current rather than stopping on an object. Rooms with movement on the wall feel less closed than rooms without it.
Which stream you follow first changes depending on where you enter from and how the light falls. It is a piece you can look at for years without settling on one reading.
